How to become an Ideator/Questor? To become an Ideator/Questor, the only thing to do is register yourself. Click in Sign Up and create your new user account. Once you are registered, you may start publishing ideas/problems, join a group and become part of the Ideas4all community. The more you participate, the higher your Brain-Fu will be! How to confirm my e-mail address Upon registration to create a new account, we ask you for your e-mail address. You will get an e-mail from Ideas4all at this address. Just open it, you will se a link. Please click on this link to confirm your e-mail address. I have not got a confirmation e-mail This may be due to different reasons: You have entered an incorrect e-mail address The process may be a little bit slower than usual The a-mail has been sent to your junk mail box. Please revise your spam folder. If none of this has happened, please contact ideas4all (info@ideas4all.com) How to change my picture To change your picture, you have to bee registered. Once registered, please click on “Your Profile” on the “Personal” flap of the toolbar. On the lower side of the screen, you can change your picture and load a new one from your PC (click on “examine”). How to edit my profile You only need to click on “Your Profile” on the “Personal” flap on the toolbar. Here you may change your nickname, your password and all the personal information you want. I forgot my nick or my password If you enter en non valid nick or password when logging in, a button “Forgot my Password” will appear. Click on this button. Then you have to enter the e-mail address you have used when you registered. In a few seconds, we will send you the information need: nickname and password. I enter my nick and my password, but I am not able to log in Maybe you are entering a wrong nick or password. In this case, you may confirm the right data as stated in the answer above. It may also happen to a technical problem. In this case, please contact ideas4all (info@ideas4all.com) How can I improve my Brain-fu? Your Brain-Fu improves when you participate in the ideas4all community, voting, commenting, and posting ideas/problems. You can check how many points you may get with each action; just have a look at the Brain-Fu table you will find at “What is Brain-fu”, on the flap “About Us” at the toolbar. How do I become “Follower” of an Ideator? It is really easy. You only have to enter the profile of that Ideator/user. Below the Tag Cloud, you will find the button “Add to your Network”. Clicking on it, you become a follower of this Ideator; all his activity will be notified to you. You will become part of his net. How to delete a comment I have posted You have to click on the button “Report Abuse” (enlace) on the side of the comment you want to delete. The Ideas4all team will delete the comment.
How to find other Ideators? Just enter his/her nick on the “Search” field on any page of the website. Another option is to enter in the “Search” field any term related with the idea of the Ideator you are looking for. What does “Follower” and “Followed” mean? “Follower” means that you are following an Ideator/Questor; by becoming a Follower, you will receive news about his/her latest ideas, problems and comments. “Followed” shows which users are following you; who ha become your “Follower” and have included you in their net. How do I become a Follower? It is very easy. You only have to enter into the profile of a user, clicking on his picture or on his nick. Below the Tag Cloud, you will find the button “Add to your Network”. Clicking on it, you will become Follower of this user, and each of his/her activities will be notified to you. You will become part of his net. How can I invite my friends? To invite your friends, you have to click on “Spread the Word”, located at the upper right corner of the site. You can include the e-mail addresses of those friends you want to invite, and include a personal message for them. How can I subscribe to the ideas of a User? You have to enter your personal page and click on “Subscribe to my ideas feed”, which is located below “My Network”. Here you will find the Ideators you are following. How can I stop being a Follower of another user? You have to enter the profile of the User you want to eliminate from your net; click on “Remove from your network”, located below the Tag Cloud. . How to contact other Users For the time being, the only option to contact other Users of this site is via the comments on the ideas and the problems. How do the filters of the homepage work? On the homepage of ideas4all, you may choose if you want to see ideas, problems or ideators just by clicking on the respective lid. If you want to browse the ideas, for instance, just click on “24 hrs, 7 days, 30 days, 365 days”, and you may filter the ideas within the chosen timeframe. If you want to revise the most voted ideas (top), the most commented, or the most seen, you just click on the lid beside the other filters. How do languages work at ideas4all? In which language do you see posted ideas? As a matter of principle, ideas and problems are seen in the language of the Internet browser one is using. If you have installed Firefox or Explorer in their English version, ideas4all will appear in English; if you have installed Firefox or Explorer in their Spanish version, ideas4all will appear in Spanish. Can I change the language of the page? Yes, you can. You only have to click on the flag in the upper right corner, and choose the language you want to filter. Can I see ideas and problems in just the language I want? Yes, you can. To see ideas and problems in a language of your choice, please click on the flag on the upper right corner of the page, and choose the language to filter the contents. You may choose between 1 to 3 languages, or just see the content in all languages. Please bear in mind that when filtering the searches by language, the rankings will be affected. This is: you will only see ideas in the chosen language(s). Everything will be filtered, except for the “Map of ideas”. Ideas in any language will appear.
How to publish an idea To publish an idea, you need to be registered. Once registered, just click on “Post ideas”, located on the flap “Ideas” on the toolbar. You may also click on the button “Got an idea? Post it!” which you will find en every page of the site. With any of both alternatives, you will end up on the page where you can edit your idea. Try to make a proper summary of your idea and include the key words which describe it; doing so, it will be easy to find your idea with the “Search” function. Then, you can enter the text of the idea, and you may add mages or videos, if you want to. After that, you have the option to fill several fields: category and tags; this will help to classify your idea, and it will be easier for other users to find your idea language: it allows all who are searching ideas to classify them by language licence: it gives you the option to decide with which kind of licence you are posting your idea Terms of use Suggested for: indicates to which company, group, person, etc. you are directing your idea. You direct your Idea to: in this way, you may also find the idea when searching for it. Dedicated to: if you want to dedicate your idea to somebody or something, this is your opportunity. Once you have completed your idea, click on “Submit” in order to publish it; now other users may see your ideas. How to delete an idea You only can erase ideas published by you. If you want to erase on of your ideas, just choose the idea you want to erase and click on the title to have access. Then, click on “Edit”. This will give you access to the page on which you can edit your idea. On the lower section of the page, you will find the button “Delete”. Click on it, and your idea will be deleted. Should you come across an idea which you believe is offensive, click on “Report Abuse”. In doing so, the team of Ideas4all will revise the idea, and delete it should that be necessary. Which kind of files may be added to an idea? You may add what kind of files you wish. You may add images, videos, text files and sub pages, which allow you to create an idea with several text pages. You may even make your idea a “wiki”, thus inviting other users to edit your idea. What is a Wiki? A Wiki is a collaborative web space, which may be edited by more than one user. It allows any reader to edit texts edited by other users. It is a web space which allows users to edit contents in a complete free way. How can I search for ideas of other Ideators? You have got several ways to do this: You may click on “Browse Ideas” located on the flap “Ideas” on the toolbar and then choose the kind of search you want to do: by title, by date, by Ideator/Questor, by votes, by number of visits or by country. You may click on “By Categories” on the flap “Ideas” on the toolbar and then choosing the category you are most interested in. You may also click on “Tag Search” located on the flap “Ideas” on the toolbar, and after that, continue selecting one of the tags shown, which represent the most searched on the site. Tags are created by the Ideators/Questors themselves when they post their ideas/challenges. You may also search what you want with the search field you will find on every page, on the upper right corner. How can I comment an idea? You have to enter to the idea you want to comment on, and type in the blank field located below the title “Add a new comment”. After that, click “Submit Comment”. Please remember that you may post comments on your own ideas. How can I vote an idea? You have to enter to the idea you want to vote and click on “Vote as Good Idea” or “Vote as a Bad Idea” You may not vote your own ideas. If an idea is offensive to me, can I report the abuse? If you consider any idea offensive, you may report the abuse clicking on “Report Abuse”, which you will find when reading the idea. You have to specify the reasons why you believe that an idea is offensive. At this stage, the idea passes to the observatory; the team of Ideas4all will consider if the idea shall be deleted or not. By reporting on offensive ideas, all of us may contribute to a more respectful and cleaner world. May I add an idea to my favourites? Yes. You may add an idea you liked to your list of favourites. To do so, click on the idea you want to add to your favourites. Then, click on “Add to favourites”. By doing so, the idea will always be accessible as a favourite from your personal page under the flap “My Favourites”. To delete an idea you have previously added as a favourite, click on “Remove from Favourites”, and the idea will be removed. Can I send an idea to a friend? Yes. You can send to your friends the ideas which you consider may interest them. Select the idea and click on “Send to a Friend”, including the e-mail addresses of the friends you want. How can I see the ideas by country? There are two ways to do this: Click on “Browse Ideas” under the flap “Ideas” on the toolbar. Then, continue your selection “by country”. You may also click on “1,000,000 Ideas” on the home page, or under the flap “One Million” on the toolbar. What are the Tags? In this field, you can enter tags which will help to describe and classify your idea. By doing so, other users will find your ideas more easily. To enter different tags, you need to enter them separated by a blank space. If you want to enter a multi-term tag (e.g. “classic music”), you have to enter an underscore between the two terms (e.g. classic_music). This underscore will not be seen later in the tag cloud. Should you wish that the terms appear as separated tag, we recommend you include them also separated by a blank space (e.g. classic_music classic music). By doing so, your idea gets far more chances to be found later. When using multi-term tags, please be aware that complicated terms (e.g. comparative_etiology_of_invertebrated_agnostid_trilobites) will be very seldom used by more people; this means that the chances to appear in the tag cloud are very little. When entering your tags, you will notice that tags already created by other users and which begin with the same letters will appear. The more users choose a tag, the larger this tag becomes, and it will be seen more in the tag cloud. How can I see related ideas? You only need to choose any idea you want to revise; on the lower right section of your screen, three lids will appear. Here you may read related ideas. Ideas that have been constructed based on the idea you are revising. If the idea you are revising has solved any problem, these are two more options available to you. Problems
Following any of these two ways, you will enter the page on which you may edit a problem. The First thing your need to do is to enter the title of your problem. On this new screen, you can edit your solution, writing the title, text, tags, etc. Your solution will be published by clicking on “Submit”. A solution is very much like an idea. See How do I publish an idea?, if you want to know more about editing and publishing an idea. To comment a problem, click on “Comment on this problem”. Then write on the blank space which will appear. After that, click on “Submit Comment”, and your comment will be published. Please remember that you can comment your own problems. Can I add files to the solution of a problem? You may add images, videos, text files and even sub pages; this will allow you to create different text pages. How can I vote a problem? You need to get access to the problem you want to vote on and click on “Rate as Good” or “Rate as Bad” . You can not vote your own problems. If a problem is offending me, can I report it? Should you consider that a problem is offending, you mat report it by clicking on “Report Abuse”, which you will find when reading the problem you want to report on. How to report an offensive idea or problem Should you consider that an idea or a problem is offensive, you may report it by clicking on “Report Abuse”, which you will find it while reading the idea or problem you want to report. When reporting an idea or a problem, please specify the reasons why you consider it is offensive. At this stage, the idea or problem passes to the observatory, and the team of Ideas4all will decide if it is deleted or not. Reporting on offensive ideas and problems will create a much more respectful and clean site. What is a “Report Abuse”? Clicking on “Report Abuse”, each user may report contents which he deems offensive, or call the attention on inappropriate, duplicated, etc. contents. Can I delete comments from another user which I consider offensive? Should you consider that a comment is offensive or inappropriate, you may report it, clicking on “Report Abuse”, which you will find on one side of the comment. We will revise it. Should it be offensive, we will manage to delete it. One of my ideas has been hijacked Should you consider that you have been cheated and your idea das been copied, you “Report Abuse” the copied content; the team of Ideas4all will delete the copy. You may also make a “Report Abuse” of the user who copied you. To do this, just enter into his profile and click on “Report Abuse” located below the Tag Cloud. Why my idea/problem has been deleted? This may happen for two reasons: You may have it deleted it yourself, but don not remember Another user made a “Report Abuse” of one of your ideas/problems, because he/she considered it was offensive, and it has been deleted My account has been eliminated This may happen for two reasons: One user made a “Report Abuse” in your profile, because he/she considered that you published an offensive content (idea, problems, comment, etc.) and your account has been eliminated. A system error happened, and your account has been eliminated. Please get in contact with the team of Ideas4all (info@ideas4all.com) How do I send a SMS? To submit your ideas to Ideas4all by SMS, you first need to register your mobile phone number. On the toolbar, you will see the flap “Personal”; click on your profile. You will see that under “More on you” you may add your mobile phone number; first of all, select your country (this will add the country code automatically). Then, fill in your complete mobile phone number (without the country code). After this, do a simple security check to be sure that nobody enters your number without your permission. We will ask you to send a SMS to Ideas4all with a code we will give you. Please write your SMS in the following way: I4A + blank space – the code, and send it to 5013 if you are located in Spain, or to 85140 if you are located in the UK. Very soon, you may send also SMS from other countries. Once your mobile phone number is registered, you can submit ideas via SMS. To do so, please s end a SMS to 85140 in the following way: I4A + blank space + (text of the idea) The first characters of the text will be interpreted like the title, and the rest like the description of the idea. Please remember that the text does not contain or backspace characters or tabulator. In total, you can use 160 characters. Your idea will be filed in the category “Received per SMS”.
